If only it hadn’t happened…
Key events can change fate and the course of history – but imagine if some key developments in the Tribe had NOT happened – then how would that have changed things?
This Pre-Tribe article takes a fun look at 5 key events in the early part of the Tribe and how the future might have unfolded if the 5 events never happened at all…
1. What if Amber did not save Chloe in episode 1 of the Tribe?
If you saw the very first episode of The Tribe you will know that Amber rescued Chloe from Zoot as he was patrolling in his Locos police car. Amber (and Dal) took pity on the younger Chloe and decided to look after her. When Chloe went with Amber and Dal into the shopping mall, her future was more secure than ever as she became one of the “Mall Rats” with Amber and Dal…
But what if Amber did not jump out and rescue Chloe? What if Amber decided to leave Chloe alone – would the Locos have caught Chloe and perhaps brought Chloe up as a Loco? Instead of Ebony being the Queen of the Locos, what if Chloe did not grow up into a nice Mall Rat, but became a tough and fierce member – or even future leader – of the Locos?
And Chloe’s rescue by Amber was also important because Amber and Dal were on their way out of the city into the countryside at the time. If they did not look after Chloe (because she would have been captured by Locos) then Amber and Dal would not have had a reason to stay in the city anymore – they would probably have wandered off into the countryside and joined one of the rural tribes away from the city. This would mean the Mall Rats might never have existed because their leader, Amber, would never have wandered into the shopping mall – or met Salene, Patsy and Paul…
2. What if Martin did not become Zoot?
If you have seen the backstory episodes in Series 2 (or read the account of how Zoot became Zoot in a previous Pre-Tribe article) you will know the story and factors that transformed Martin, the younger brother of Bray, into Zoot, Loco founder and leader.
What if the factors that turned Martin into Zoot did not happen – and if Martin never became Zoot?
Imagine if Martin instead stayed as he always used to be – a shy and well-meaning younger brother of Bray – this would have had major consequences for the future of Tribeworld…
For a start, Martin would not have become Zoot – and therefore there would have been no Locos and no “power and chaos” as a result.
This would not necessarily make the city a safer and more peaceful place to be in the new world without adults – it would just mean that the Locos would never have become the most powerful Tribe, probably the Demon Dogs would have taken over the city instead, or Tribe Circus. So the Mall Rats might have still formed as a Tribe but their main threat would have been someone apart from the Locos (who would not exist).
On a personal level, perhaps Ebony would have stayed as Bray’s girlfriend – and Martin would have remained Trudy’s boyfriend? After all, Ebony only left Bray when she was captivated by Zoot – and if Martin never became Zoot, Ebony might never have left Bray…
Martin would have been the happy father of the future baby, Brady, and lived with Trudy? Perhaps instead of Bray looking after Trudy and their joining the Mall Rats in episode 3 and 4 it would have actually been Martin who protected Trudy and the baby and joined the Mall Rats?
And without Zoot there would have been no Chosen Tribe in Series 2 – because with no Zoot, there is no vision of “power and chaos”…
